Thread Name: Origins: The Sailor's Way / Across the Line
Subject: RE: Origins: The Sailor's Way / Across the Line
From the story, "The Lure," by Bill Adams (Adventure magazine, Jan. 30, 1923):

Faintly gleams the north star
As it shines on our starboard bow;
We're homeward bound for Liverpool town,
And our hearts are in it now.

We've crossed the line and the Gulf Stream,
Been down by Table Bay.
We've rounded the Horn, and we're homeward bound,
And that is the sailor's way.

Adams (1879-1953) sailed before the mast ca1896-ca1900.
