Thread Name: Folkweave radio show from the bbc
Subject: RE: Folkweave radio show from the bbc
Still don’t remember the Deanwater recordings! I suspect that, after being broadcast, the tapes would have been bulk erased and reused; that is those that weren’t cut up and edited for the broadcast.
The ones being talked about weren’t however the only ones. There was a series of nights at the Deanwater recorded by the late Fred Woods (The Observers Book of Folk Music - remember him?) for broadcast by Radio Stoke back in the late 70s. Even earlier than that, Radio Manchester recorded some live performances - I remember the radio car screeching to a stop on the A6 to pick me up from the bus stop several times and the driver/engineer/producer Mike Gamble glad to see me as he was on his own - last time I saw (acually heard) Mike was as the voice behind the spinning globe on BBC2.
