If anyone is still interested, the 'Fergie' tractor was the brainchild, or one of the brainchildren of Harry Ferguson, an Ulster inventor, and it might be interesting to look up his biography, particularly his dealings with the Ford company. Someone mentioned above that the engine could run on either petrol or kerosene, my octogenarian recollection is that it was started on petrol and was then switched over to kerosene. Another memory is going out to harvest the spuds with eight or ten kids riding for miles on a Fergie, three or four on the engine cover some behind the driver and some on the mudguards.
