Rapiers were used in obtaining the original 9th level in the Scottish Rite. There are many connections to the society of secrets of the Masonic order and Rap the Emperor. The founding fathers of the US who shared a Masonic education, included George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and John Hancock.
The associated secret society, the Illuminati, never gave much credit to the Overlords either.
