Guest you are right about mindless music and jingles, but there is little or no payment involved. MCPS takes care of the playlist, and my post above explains that, and jingles are made inhouse, or by presenters at home. I used to make them regularly on my programme. The music used is library music for free. There are thousands of recordings to choose from. When it comes to Folk I believe Brian Peters contributed.
The BBC are financially embarrassed because thousands are understandably refusing to pay for a licence. I've had my rant on this thread so feel free to reread it (or not!)
