Thread Name: Folklore: The Devil The Color Black
Subject: RE: Folklore: The Devil The Color Black
The original disagreement over Wer hat Angst vorm schwarzen Mann? prompting the thread was about thoroughly contemporary, personal, and mistaken beliefs. Neither the parent nor the teacher had their game history sorted to the current standard.
“Necromancy" ("death arts") has swapped places with "nigromancy" ("black arts") for centuries on end now. Best of luck sorting your personal blacks, Blacks, whites and Whites when the originals were Greek.
Both the workplace and the worker are a “smith” or “smithy.” A “blacksmith” … no matter the race or hygiene… is a “blacksmith.” Likewise a “whitesmith” may be an Eskimo, fresh or funky, still a “whitesmith.” Goldsmiths, silversmiths &c. &c all same-same.
“Black metal,” firescale or millscale surface layers on elemental iron, is a mix of hematite, magnetite and wüstite. It's more of a dark red or brown than black. See also berries and humans.
