Mystic is still functioning as a maritime museum but it has not demonstrated any recent interest in traditional or contemporary nautical music.

Fortunately such music is alive and well in Essex the 2nd weekend of June, as re-established by the Connecticut Sea Music Festival, now in its 5th year.
