JennieG, I agreee that "ethereally sublime" is a good description of H v B's music. I bought a CD of her music some decades ago but I can't find it. I've stashed it somewhere safe but can't remember where. I thought it would magically reappear when I bought the new CD set but it didn't.
I would get lost, drifting off with the beautiful, peaceful music but in the middle of one track a loud, male voice would suddenly shout something out. I imagine that the nuns would be drifting off into another beautiful, peaceful world and the priest would be suddenly yelling, "Wake up!", trying to make them remember their chosen role in life.
SRS, I don't want to invade this discussion with politics but this is a very stressful time for your country. You are looking after your own wellbeing by backing off from political overload but take heart in seeing the people who are standing up for what they believe is right. My suggestion is to watch some sheepdog trials videos and see how a well-coordinated piece of group action can bring a rowdy mob under control - quietly, cleverly and with determination and skill.
I watched a heartening documentary last night about an amazing Aussie singer, Jimmy Barnes. The show is called Jimmy Barnes: Working Class Man. He revealed his difficult childhood and how it haunted him for most of his life. It resulted in his nearly complete downfall from drug and alcohol addiction but with his family and friends by his side he managed to break free and come out the other side, better and stronger than ever.
