Caregivers for Caregivers - the theme of the week. I regularly cat sit for a friend who lives alone with three cats. No marriage, no children, so these are her babies. She regularly travels several hours south to visit with her mother (in her 90s) and deal with health issues there. So for a few days this week I'll make several trips a day to feed and medicate (including insulin injection and every third day subcutaneous IV saline solution). It pays me well and costs her less than boarding at the vet (or the drama of rounding up those cats, two that do not like to travel in the car.)

I've done my own version of caregiving over the last six weeks or more as the ex recovers from something like sciatica and there is a mystery knee pain (yes, we're not married any more, but that doesn't mean we're not family, and we have two great adult children together).

Our family get together will be on Sunday, so doing this work over the official holiday doesn't cut into my family time. One must be flexible to have everyone in one place at one time these days.
