The Legion post has a big gathering on Thanksgiving, it's great for couples and solos to have a big feast without making everything at home, and is handy for veterans who aren't up to cooking at all.

I remember mom-in-law getting up at 3 to put a bird in the oven, and otherwise knocking herself out for 3 days to put on a major feast alone. We would try to take some of the load, but she really preferred being the martyr. There is something deeply silly about having a big dinner before noon that someone has to work in the dark to prepare.

Well the flour has settled, and now it's time to give appreciation for what we may have. Health, friends, music, nature, what-have-you.
