I came across a Spotift playlist of 100 versions of 'Fairytale'!

Not listened to many but a couple caught my ear

Oddly enough the version by Ronan Keating and Moya Brennan is the best one so far. Until Ronan starts de-de-de-ing the instrumental bit at the end! Amy MacDonald's was good and the male role sounds like Shane MacGowan but may not be. Sadly Amy does not do justice like Kirsty though. KT Tunstall on the other hand puts in a great performance but the male role is a bit weak. There is a very different and enjoyable version by Jon Boden and Eliza Carthy.

I don't think any will ever beat the original but it is fun listening to them at this time of year :-)
