Rod was one of my most respected icons; he was a founding member of Oak, The Old Swan Band, Edward II and the Red Hot Polkas, The English Country Blues Band, Tiger Moth and other amazing musical projects. Apart from that, he ran the Musical Traditions website and the Musical Traditions CD label, and he still found time to play for Bampton Morris. One of my fondest memories was Rod playing in a session in the New Inn in the ancient town of Llantrisant, at the start of the inaugural meetings of the Traditional Song Forum - memories that will remain for ever. Condolences to Rod's wife, Danny, son Barn and daughter Hannah; Rod was one in a million.
