Thread Name: Artificial Intelligence - what could go wrong?
Subject: RE: Artificial Intelligence - what could go wrong?
Depends what you call "wisdom", and for that matter what "AI" means this week in *this* context for *that* person.
Bits become Data when collected. Data becomes Information when labelled and sorted. Information becomes Knowledge when integrated with everything else. To go from Knowledge to Wisdom, throw away the Bits you started with.
Only the last step is achievable by LLMs, imperfectly at that. When they manage it, that's anthropomorphised as "hallucinations"; when they upchuck the original data, it's called "plaigiarism". We haven't advanced much beyond the state of "I could eat alphabet soup and *shit* better lyrics".
As for "AI", that's just a couple of letters that Marketing slap on anything which eats bits and shits spits out words or images, whether or not LLMS (or Machine Learning, or ....) are involved. The tradition in the trade is that, once a machine can do better than a human at something, "intelligence" gets redefined to avoid that special case.
