NATO allies warn Trump of 'dangerous downward spiral' over Greenland threats

"In short: Eight European countries threatened with tariffs by US President Donald Trump say they are standing in solidarity with Denmark and Greenland.

"The joint statement from the governments of Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Britain also affirms that they are 'committed to strengthening Arctic security'."



"Mr Trump is threatening to charge a 10 per cent import tax starting in February on goods from those countries as he demands a deal is done that would see the US take control of Greenland."
