Thread Name: Folk radio and podcasts in 2026
Subject: RE: Folk radio and podcasts in 2026
In terms of radio shows (whether real-time or online), I listen to hardly any these days - that's why I asked. I was hoping people might be able to recommend some local radio folk shows, as there was a time (not a million years ago) that there were quite a few.
I think the only folk radio show I listen to is the Traditional Music Hour on Resonance FM: https://www.mixcloud.com/Resonance/playlists/the-traditional-music-hour/ It's hosted by Kevin Shiels.
I listen to a lot of Irish music related podcasts. Some of these are now longer running - some only managed 4 or 5 episodes - but others may find these interesting. A lot of these mainly from a musician - rrather than a listener - point of view.
Get Up In The Cool, an Old Time American podcast - there’s a new episode every week. A great podcast - there’s hundreds of episodes to listen to. https://getupinthecool.fireside.fm/
Richie Piggott's Irish Music Memories: https://www.richiepiggott.com/podcast.html
At The Crossroads: https://shows.acast.com/at-the-crossroads
Fire Draw Near: https://soundcloud.com/firedrawnear
Tunes From Doolin, which managed 10 excellent episodes before it finished. Some great interviews and tunes shared: https://tunesfromdoolin.com/podcast/
‘The Lizzes’ was another fairly short-lived podcast, which was basically Liz Carroll and Liz Knowles chatting together. Very entertaining: https://open.spotify.com/show/1KWWAtMwCtjqFJJt58YnEi
Fiddler Hannah Harris’ Find Your Lilt podcast also seems to have bitten the dust, but put out a bunch of enjoyable Irish-fiddle-related interview episodes: https://open.spotify.com/show/4G9ybmYGYD7ViIB4l8Bq0g
