Thread Name: ADD: Sleeping Beauty - chris'ning day of child...
Subject: ADD: Sleeping Beauty (Time & Tune, Autumn 1972)
Several versions above are very close, but these are the exact lyrics from Time & Tune, Autumn 1972.

SLEEPING BEAUTY

On the christening day of a child princess,
Most beautiful ever seen,
Came a party of guests to the palace feast
By order of king and queen.
Six good fairies danced for her,
Weaved their magic spell,
Gave the child their wondrous gifts,
Wished the princess well.

But a wicked old witch they did not invite
Was angered to prophesy
That the tiniest prick on her finger-tip
Would cause the princess to die.
One good fairy had saved her wish,
Soothed the royal tears,
Gently should that princess child
Sleep a hundred years.

When the years had passed by, came a handsome prince
Like dawn on a summer day,
To arouse the princess from her magic dream
And make all the castle gay.
Violins and oboes played
Songs of olden times.
Sleeping Beauty and her Prince
Danced to wedding chimes.

From the Autumn 1972 edition of BBC Time and Tune, titles "Sleeping Beauty."
