Are we sure it was a folk club/a pub? I remember some sort of venue in the middle of Ashton - possibly an old cinema. Can’t remember exactly where but there was a bingo hall over the road.

It was probably the 80s but I remember this in particular because, whilst I was sorting out the sound system with a roadie on stage talking gibberish, one two, one two etc. the back door burst open, a man rushed in and asked if we were using radio mics. He said he was the bingo caller from over the road and his sound system was picking up our signal!
