Subject: RE: Origins: MacPherson's Lament or Rant or Farewell
I went & stayed with Davie & brother John in Cotton Street Aberdeen in about 1970.
With friends & Davie's approval we busked the fitba match at Pittodrie v Celtic- deciding it was safe we played our repertoire of 'Fenian' songs, but made only about three bob altogether.
Meanwhile Davie had gone & busked the queue at the local Odeon & done very well indeed. When we compared notes Davie said 'Ach never mind youse, Aa'l stand yese all a white puddin' & chips'.....
His brother John wax a fine singer too & I picked up a fine version of the 'Gallowa' Hills' from the man....
