Thread Name: What are the best Vietnam era songs?
Subject: RE: What are the best Vietnam era songs?
I have zero interest in American songs about the war but I would be interested in what the Vietnamese had to say about it. I don't know how Vietnamese culture commemorates historical events but there must be musical responses to it from their side. Anybody know a source that discusses these?

What I saw as the most important American music from the war period was the crooner and easy listening genres. Perry Como, Bert Kaempfert, Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals. Music to make the American middle class feel warm and cosy while their hired killers were tearing entire countries to bloody rubble. That stuff made me sick at the time and still does.
