My dear aunt Likkies was the blue-eyed girl in the little red faded dress, who came from the Karoo. She passed away from lung cancer a month ago in January. She was 77, and had lived by the sea in Cape Town for the last years. Tony Bird’s song now sounds like a eulogy, but all my life I was so charmed by the fact that a singer had written such a sweet song about her. She is missed terribly.
