Yes indeed, their history has of course started to be written about, no doubt more to come.

What interests me in particular in this context is what artefacts (recordings, photos, interviews, recollections, objects) are of most interest to support such research activities, and how do we decide what to preserve as opposed to discard. I think it comes down to erring on the side of inclusiveness, although that does present some problems (e.g. who has carriage of archives of sound recordings etc. when we are gone, and/or how best to make them accessible as of now).

I have some very current experience on this topic, but to avoid muddying the water will post separately below...
