A very sad day. I have been trying to mentally prepare for this ever since the January postings, but even so it came as a shock to the system yesterday.
George was one of the most genuine, thoughtful and considerate people I have ever known. A good friend of over 20 years, a true gentleman, and a gifted singer and musician. But he will be especially remembered by the folk music community as a songwriter par excellence, whose songs are already part of today's tradition - no mean achievement!
My deepest sympathies and condolences to Vanessa and Aliki.
Thankyou, George my friend, for your music, your good sense, your inspiration, your humanity.
Now your suffering is finally over, may you rest in peace.
