Charmion, I hate to think how you're having to isolate yourself in the house while there are workmen in there. Consider ordering yourself one of these electric kettles and you can at least make tea or bouillon while you're off of solids. (I'll never boil water on the stove again - I'm always afraid I'll burn the house down if I boil a kettle dry. These turn off when the water boils.) Do you have DoorDash there? A big container of Chinese wonton soup is always what my ex swears by when he's feeling that way (arriving via me, not a delivery service).

My pulled muscles are still a bit achy (abdomen) and the COVID vaccine from yesterday has contributed to the general discomfort. But thankfully no lower GI stuff (though the dog Pepper has eye-wateringly rancid farts lately and I need to remember to give her a probiotic to help with that.)

As I proceed toward putting down new vinyl flooring in the laundry room I'm doing a laundry-room two-step. It may come as a surprise that I spent time this afternoon emptying a shelf above the washer (put in under a set of cabinets) and taking down clamps to hold brooms, mops, etc. plus some small art tiles and such. I'd completely forgotten about the iron and ironing board caddy on the wall (other stuff was hanging from it). The iron and the ironing board have lived for years in my sewing room. I've dusted the walls and will soon wash, then paint, before putting down the flooring. Then things can go back and I'll do the same on the dryer side. This is kind of a half-assed way to approach the job but I don't want both the washer and the dryer moved out at once. Also it gives me a way to allow a passage through the room for the dogs without them getting into paint or adhesives.
