Back in the days when I was working on the company Y2K issues, the insurance companies did exactly the same thing: You are not covered by issues caused by faulty date calculation (which nicely covered them for the unix epoch as well...).
Guess when companies suddenly started to get REALLY serious about Y2k fixes?
