Thank you robomatic. This is why I posted on Mudcat to get informed replies like yours. I have got some more information, in respect of the original film. Evidently Rosa was denying being an SS member when she shook her head. Secondly there is some evidence that she was asked to walk toward the camera by the director, which may explain her gait as she approached. I suspect she would have done anything she could to get some medical attention.
The Lore Bauer story written about her was in fact total fiction, but was treated as fact some years after it was penned. Her looks have attracted the 'rescue desire' of many viewers, and has led the search for her real name. Finally it transpires that it may have been a rifle butt that caused her facial damage. Regretfully You Tube tends to remove any genuine historical research, quite why is a mystery.
