It's a long time since I read LOTR - i.e. just on 50 years ago so I don't remember the part you are referring to but I remember being overawed by the story, the settings, the characters, the storytelling etc. I actually read it as part of the Fantasy and Sci-Fi unit I studied, which was one of my favourite units when studying English Lit at Uni.

My Sis recommended Colbert's show about a year ago and Hubby & I have watched every episode since then.

[On a divergent note, regarding Colbert being cancelled from The Late Show, I watched this week's episode of Aussie comedian Adam Hills The Last Leg (a show on UK TV) and I suspect Adam is hoping to be cancelled as well. He called tRump a "f***ing idiot" three times within the one hour episode. I've watched him in another music quiz series called Spicks and Specks for about 20-something years and, knowing his comedic style and strong, determined personality, I am betting he is pushing for a big reaction from you-know-who.]
