The blues are rich in songs of double-meaning. In fact, the blues masters seem to have been obsessed with sex. That isn't even counting old rock and roll tunes like Big Ten Inch." A Little Piece of Wang" comes to mind as a folk song, as do many tunes done by Oscar Brand. There is a song on the A.L. Lloyd/Ewan MacColl "Blow Boys Blow" (always wondered what the sailors meant by that) where everything is described in nautical terms -- "Me shot locker's empty, me powder's all gone."
Robertson Davies, the author, mentions a song entitled "The Stub Of Me Old Cigar" and for years I've wondered what the lyrics might be.
