I don't know about converting midis, not being a midi guy, but I expect you have to convert them to WAV files (or Mac equivalent?) and thence to mp3.sThe only thing I've heard from mp3.com about not available services after april 1st is no pay-for-play money. So presumably we'll still be able to put new CD's out.
Judging from how long it's taking to get a new upload onto a site if you're not paying the money though, it appears to be hardly worth it to join up now unless you want to pay the $20 month. (I guess my stuff stays at the bottom of the queue--it's an unsubtle message that "premium" service pretty much means "any" service.) Worth it to some and others will consider it a reasonable business expense. But it's evident that $20 a month is only a start--that's just to be considered in there with the other hundreds of thousands of suddenly "premium" artists. I bet mp3.com will make some money this year, but I'm not sure if they'll make it from me...oh there I go again. Definitely looking at IUMA...
Sorry kat, not much help am i\I?
best
