Thread Name: Lyr Add: Bound to Go (from the McCalmans)
Subject: Lyr Add: BOUND TO GO (from The McCalmans )
Extracted this from a recording by Scottish group The McCalmans about 15 years ago. Used to perform it in a Melbourne group known as 'The Jeff Kennett Blues Band'. Our namesake eventually became State Premier of Victoria - much to our surprise. We were exclusively a concert band, concentrating on satire and vocal harmonies - we stole the McCalmans harmony style unashamedly - and had a marvelous time. On one occasion we sang a marvelous song called 'The Drover's Dog' (maybe penned by Redgum?) which politely lampooned the then Prime Minister, Bob Hawke. A small number of older Labor stalwarts became most indignant, even though we had taken the mickey of all sides of politics.

It has a good singable tune, but I can't yet provide a quality MIDI for it.

BOUND TO GO

We are three lowland travellers and now we must away
It's hello and goodbye are the words we mostly say
We might see you in the autumn when the leaves are falling low
So farewell good people we're al bound to go.

CHORUS

Bound to go bound to go
So farewell good people we're all bound to go.

The road we've come was long and hard from coast to foreign coast
It's hello and goodbye are the words we've used the most
We might see you in the springtime when the ice will melt the flow
So farewell good people we're al bound to go.

Well we've drunk and sung and slept a bit
Our laughs have come and gone
It's hello and goodbye is the old familiar song
We might see you in the winter driving through the ice and snow
So farewell good people we're al bound to go.

And when travellin' days are over and the salt hangs on us all
It's hello and goodbye are the words that we'll recall
And we'll give a thought to a thousand friends and a few we came to know
So farewell good people we're al bound to go.

CHORUS x 2

Regards
John
