Peter (Midchuck)'s post tallies with my own very unscientific obervation of the students at the colleges I've worked at over the last 30 years: the men seem to be smoking less and the women more.
I'm a non-smoker brought up in a smoking household and I congratulate anyone who's had the sense to give up. Herself gave up not long after we married and stopped getting winter bronchitis. My parents gave up on retirement. My father is still going strong 20 years on but my mother died of smoking related diseases and so did my father-in-law (he was a doctor and always said it was his own stupidity, he should have known better).
