Your friend is basically right, but don't knock dispersing the output; sometimes what you need most is not more volume, but a better delivery system. Depending on the configuration of the room, the better coverage that additional speakers give you might be just the thing. However, you have to make sure your speakers are compatable with your existing system (same ohms, etc.). Somebody who is more of an electronics whiz can explain the reasons for that better than I can -- just be aware it's an issue and await a more complete answer from one of the resident Mudcat techs.
