Thread Name: Help: One-string guitarist???
Subject: Help: One-string guitarist???
OK, about 5-6 years ago, I was driving my car, listening to a now-dead Minnesota radio station called Rev 105. Once a week (I think) they had something called the "Cake Slice," on which some people from Cake (a now-dead local newspaper) would choose a bizarre song to play. (Yeah, yeah, get to the point...) That night, they featured a song by... I don't know. I couldn't find my pen. Then I forgot about it for a few years. But now... What I remember: It sounded like an elderly black man, and he was playing a guitar with one string. He was from... somewhere in the South. (Mississippi or Louisiana, I THINK) It sounded like a field recording. (I think they said it might have been recorded in his house.) Apparently, he was/is considered a state treasure in his home state, and there is a cd of his music (they were playing it, after all), which I believe they said was released by some state cultural agency. I haven't been able to find anything about him so far... Like I said, both the paper and the station are gone now. Anyone have any ideas who this might have been? :)
