In a recent batch of CDs that my oldtimey/country supplier sent me, he threw in a recent CD by a bloke he thought I'd like. And I do indeed. I know there are plenty of people around here who like singer/songwriters on the fringes of country so I thought I'd draw it to their attention. This Texan sits somewhere between Townes and Robert Earl Keen. He has gentle, unpretentious backing (guitars, harmonica, pedal steel, banjo) and nicely crafted songs. I don't say that you should necessarily deliberately seek out his music but, if you come across it, give him a listen. Tasty stuff. Pity about the hat:--Stewie.
