I have a CD called 'One String Blues' that features Eddie 'One String' Jones. Jones has half the CD and the other half is by Edward Hazelton who sings, and plays harmonica. I don't know whether it is still available. Jones' LP was originally recorded in 1960 by Frederick Usher in Los Angeles Skid Row. The CD has extra tracks, including a wonderful performance of 'The Dozens'. Takoma CDTAK 1023. Jones' instrument consisted of 3 feet of discarded 2x4, a steel wire strung from a nail each end and raised off the block by bridges - a wooden block at the open end and a pill bottle at the other end under the resonator, a gallon paint tin wired on to the 2x4 and split up the side part way to pass over the string. Jones played it with a whittled stick (beating) and a half-pint whisky bottle (sliding). A remarkable sound.
