I just asked the "expert". My hubby says Midtwon Madness is fun. Driving through city streets - normal driving skill stuff, but you also get to have fun with pedestrians - cartoon sort of fun, not blood-&-guts variety.

He also likes Need For Speed - there are a few sequels to this as well. And he mentioned Carmageddon, but I think this is for younger kids.

He went all-out and bought a force-feedback steering wheel. In Need For Speed you can feel the bumps in the road through the steering wheel and also if you do damage to the car the effects of the damage are translated into how it would actually feel holding the wheel. This was a fairly expensive purchase, but it adds another dimension to the game.
