This song is one of those with 1,000 verses, which are picked from in a mix-and-match fashion by the performer. The obligatory first verse is:

She'll be comin' 'round the mountain when she comes(2x) She'll be comin' 'round the mountain(2x) She'll be comin' 'round the mountain when she comes

And then additional verses, built in the same fashion, include:

We will all go out to meet her when she comes

She'll be drivin' six white horses when she comes

We will all have chicken and dumplin's when she comes

I will have to sleep with Grandma when she comes

She will wear her red pajamas when she comes

--=-----

Note also that sometimes when it's done, there is a short word or phrase that is spoken (not sung) at the end of every long line (the first 2 and the last one of the 5-line verse). For example, with "we will all go out to meet her" you say, "Hi, Babe!" and with "We will all have chicken and dumplin's" it's "Yum, yum!"

Hope this helps a little.

Why isn't this in the digitrad?

Alex

Teddy, go to the top of the page & click on "C" below the lyrics search. DT has Coming 'round the mountain and Comin' Round the Mountain.

I've asked Joeclone to move this to it's own thread because it's kind of lost here.

The one in the Digitrad as "COMIN' 'ROUND THE MOUNTAIN" is completely unrelated to the one I posted above.

The search is really tetchy about things like apostrophes. I looked for Comin Round the Mountain and it found ZILCH because it wanted the apostrophes.

Mousethief, the one you posted is under Coming 'Round the Mountain. Ya just nehvah can tell where those contractions or alternate spellins 'ill be. I found it from the browse list instead a the search. You did use some additional verses, though. I would'ave used We'll, I'll & she'll in a couple of your verses. :-)
