You may be right, Bruce, but I personally prefer the sound of the tin whistle to the sound of the (wooden/plastic) recorder. I have no idea why. It may be because if you are used to an instrument, like the flute, it wrecks you for nearby instruments, but one that is in another category in your mind doesn't appear to be "wrong".
