There's a wonderful little weekend festival that happens every September at the Pine Mountain State Park in Pineville, KY. Planning it, in the early 70s I think, Dick Albin wanted to call it something like, Pine Mt. Folk Festival. The park turned him down flat- so they compromised on, "The Great American Dulcimer Convention." That way, it wouldn't draw "all those beer-drinkers on motor-cycles." Must have worked, because it's still going on...not a good reflection on the word, "Folk," however.
