I don't know the reason but suspect it may have something to do with the pipes from the cellar so it should not be a long lived problem and noone should be put off going to the Jug. There are plenty of other things to drink which are neither beer nor Lucozade.. Now Liz if you're in to rum we will definitely have to get you on the rum and Shrub if you haven't tried it already!
