Liz, although the feel of the rooms may have been different, I can't remember the degree of formality being an issue. I don't know what, if any, guidelines Nynia has for the Snug but it would be fair to say that the Song Circle (and my current room) was not really a room for chat in as much as it was open and the emphasis was on trying to have someone performing on the mic as much as possible. In my experience with the rooms I use, the singers there rarely seem bothered by a lot of text (some rooms have 30+ people in at times and a fair amount of comings and goings so just applause, hello's and goodbyes can create a fair flow of text). That is of course not to suggest that some people in the Snug may not find the text distracting.
