About the question of rising sea levels. A year or so ago I read or heard somewhere that scientists are now using a technology that is similar to what surveyors use to measure distance, in order to determine whether or not the sea level is rising.Apparently, they are bouncing signals from satelites off of the ocean surface and measuring the amount of time it takes them to get back to the satelite. It's kind of like bouncing a beam from a theodolite off of a surveyor's rod and measuring the time it takes to get back to the theodolite.
This is supposed to be a very accurate way of measuring changes in sea level. If my memory serves me correctly, they said they have detected a rise in sea level since they started measuring using this method. Has anyone else heard anything about this?
