Thread Name: Mudcat Contest: Dumb New Verses to Faves
Subject: RE: Mudcat Contest: Dumb New Verses to Faves
One I wrote a few months after first hearing (over and over and over again, my friend) the original (yeah, it's not trad., but well-known):
My uncle Walter's not right in the head, He's been that way all his life, my mother said. It's not that he's violent, or falls down the stairs, It's just he goes waltzing, waltzing with bears.
It actually makes a good first verse, so that you're not immediately thrust into the middle of the story.
Others occur to me, such as:
Yesterday, Rock and roll was not so hard to play. Now I need a place to hide away, Oh, I believe in yesterday.
