One is as exclusionary as the other. No one says that there should not be Black or womens Studies but there are no White or Mens studies programs; in fact, it would seem that the very idea is ignored.
Is everything there is to know about Whites or Men known? True, non-whites and females have been overlooked. Because they are now being given the chance to have their own departments of study so the scales will begin to come into balance, does this mean that Whites and men must be ignored until some mystical equilibrium is achieved?
Is it OK to be proud of being Black but not of being White; of being female but not of being male?
And, if it is OK, why is it OK?
