Gosh, yes! Sandburg played guitar and recorded some of his collected songs; I have one of his albums which includes "I'll Ride An Old Paint." O.K., I just dug the album out and it's FLAT ROCK BALLADS by CBS Records; Sandburg was almost 80 at the time. There are great pictures of him singing and playing. I believe he was also good buddies with Studs Turkel who, amazingly enough, is still around and writing.
