Thread Name: Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass
Subject: RE: Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass
Well, I wanted to put something up about hearing Seamus in concert tonight, but I wasn't sure which thread to put it in - "Seamus Kennedy Kicks Ass," or "Seamus Kennedy, You're a Wonderful Man." I was hoping for something in between...
Anyhow, Seamus is performing this weekend at the 125th Sacramento Valley Scottish Games in Woodland, not far from my home. He had a concert this evening with a Northern California group called Golden Bough, and with extraordinary fiddler Alasdair Fraser. All three acts were wonderful, but Seamus was especially entertaining. His jokes would make Catspaw proud. I've heard Seamus on his CD's, and he's good; but he sounds even better in person. The man has a wonderfully resonant voice (and a very warped sense of humor....)
He says he's been performing professionally for 30 years. Gee, it seems it's not often you meet a musician who actually makes a living as a musician. He's a real pro, so I guess he has no need to supplement his income delivering pizza.
I picked up a copy of his kids' CD, Gets on Everybody's Nerves, because it had a couple of songs I want to learn. It's a nice piece of work.
Thanks for a great evening, Seamus.
