Cranky, yes the Cherokees under Sequoia did invent a language, but it was not an original manifestation of writing. The creation was a 19th century occurrence spurred by observation of existing languages among European colonists. Jared Diamond cites this phenomenon in Guns, Germs, and Steel as one of the critical factors in European conquest.

Now as to your argument that the Cherokees were more civilized in their behavior than the ones who set them on the Trail of Tears...I must agree.
