Though my web surfing didn't bring up anything else about his later career it pulled up a reference from Elton john admitting he'd pinched the name and Van Morrison remembering seeing him live. Some Children's tv references and second-hand records for sale but no fuller biography.
There's a younger NZ actor with the same name that crops up as well.
