Thread Name: What happened to the Intl. Lyr Server?
Subject: Lyr Add: WAY DOWN YONDER IN NEW ORLEANS
International Lyrics Server seems to work normally for me, although I noticed it was a bit sluggish earlier this week. I also noticed that OLGA, the on-line guitar archive, is back online. For jazz standards, you might try Rabid Squirrel's Jazz Archive.
I didn't find the song at any of the normal search sites, but I did come up with it by doing a Hotbot search for the second line of the chorus (the first line brought up too many 'hits'). I found more verses on papers, but my social life calls. I'll post more later, unless some kind soul wants to do it first. Hope this satisfies you for now. -Joe Offer-
WAY DOWN YONDER IN NEW ORLEANS Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon (Henry Creamer and J. Turner Layton, 1922)
CHORUS: Way down yonder in New Orleans in the land of dreamy scenes There's a garden of Eden, you know what I mean
Well, Creole babies with flashing eyes softly whisper with tender sighs, And then you Stop! Oh won't you give your lady fair a little smile. And then you Stop! You bet your life you'll linger there a little while
There is heaven right here on earth with those beautiful queens Way down yonder in New Orleans
