I can remember, again on the good old BBC LIGHT hearing a regular programme when, Elton Hays sings to a small guitar was announced by one of those treacley voiced announcers of those early 50's. Yes the Owl and the Pusseycat was the one I remember most and , of course he always opened with the Alan-a Dale song which went --------with a riddle me diddle me day , me day. With a riddle me diddle me day. or some such. Often wondered if that was an inspiration for the folk singer in "Round the Horne" and "Beyond our Ken" ? Who was it who played "Ramblin Sid Rompeau" ?
