LH, there's a Neville Shute quote (I think from "Requiem for a Wren") where one character is asking why all the politicians don't learn not to start wars, since they were all involved in them when they were young. The answer given is that they actually enjoyed wartime - but they enjoyed it bcos they were young, not bcos of the war.

I will say that it's difficult to get good apples from supermarkets - they're bred to look good and grow quickly at the expense of taste. Use local shops instead.
